One of the unfortunate characteristics of ECC is the huge discrepancy between its words and its actions.  The public can only speculate.  Everything points towards ECC valuing the site more than the Club.  Consider a family living in a house.  Which is more important, the family or the house?

What lies behind the immoderate haste shown by ECC to demolish the pavilion (clubhouse)?

Within a week of acquiring the premises, ECC states its intention to demolish the pavilion.  This may be taken as confirmation that Local Government has had its own agenda regarding the site since 1999.  It might have been imagined that ECC’s first move would have been to make a last ditch attempt to provide a home for the Club, but that didn’t happen.  It seems probable that ECC wishes to demolish the pavilion to seal their ‘constructive eviction’ of the Club, thus acquiring the site for its own hidden purposes.  Hopefully, ECC will replace the facility should it find its conscience. There is still a Club which wishes to be housed on the site!
