Gang Culture is becoming a very serious problem in various parts of the country, and is extremely difficult to control once it has become established. The use of guns and knives in and around Exeter is currently rare, but not unknown, and it would be extremely unwise to discount the possibility of such incidents ultimately becoming common here.
To what degree is the City Council promoting Gang Culture in Exeter?
Gangs of young vandals in the Summerway locality are a fact of life. Most of these youngsters would not be making such a nuisance of themselves if enjoyable activities were available, which they could share with parents and caring volunteers. When Exeter City Council withdrew support and denied long term security to Summerway and the Orchard, demolishing the Clubhouse and the Adventure Playground’s equipment, it has deprived the Community. Some children have found other things to do, but those less blessed have gravitated to the gangs. There are now volunteers and parents unable to help the children because of ECC’s elitist priorities, and its failure to understand the way in which community works.
