Jim to ECC Leisure Manager
Extracts from Email dated 6th February 2007
Before I start responding to your email, I wish to make it abundantly clear that, while there are serious areas of disagreement in our opinions, nothing I am saying is aimed at you personally. I am most anxious that no one should get hurt as we try to reach a proper conclusion to the issues at hand, so please do realise that it is only the opinions that I may be opposing, and not you as an individual. Everybody matters. ....
I think you must agree that my queries are founded on real concerns, and are not
of a spurious or facetious nature. Others, besides myself, will be eagerly awaiting
your replies to the questions posed in this letter. I remind you that it would be
wrong to take anything in it as an attack on you personally. It is the need for

Jim to ECC Leisure Manager
Extracts from Email dated 11th February 2007
Thank you for your email. This both saddened and disappointed me, as you do not seem to be grasping the meaning of the content of my letters and emails, and you are clearly misinterpreting me as well.
I hope that you are not suggesting that I am reducing the serious matters under consideration to a mere exercise in semantics. I only wish that you would accord me the same courtesy by closely examining the points I make. ....
You refer to an obvious breakdown in the relationship between Jim Harle and Local Government. As far as I am concerned, that is utter nonsense. I sense no breakdown.
....
Finally, you have saddened and disappointed me. As far as I am concerned, that does not constitute a breakdown in any personal relationship we may enjoy. I will continue to hope for better things to come.

EEC Leisure Manager to Jim, DCC & ECC Councillors, certain ECC & DCC Officers, Exeter’s MP, etc.
Extracts from Email dated 31st January 2007
In view of Jim Harle’s latest outburst I thought Councillors may like to know what has gone on. ....
Jim Harle condemns local government in his email of 31 January, but of course he only tells the tale from his own perspective, and with many of his statements misleading at best. ....
There’s plenty more that could be written in response to Jim’s email, but we are clearly never going to be able to reach agreement with Jim. However, you can be reassured that Local Government is happy to work sensibly with the other members of the club’s committee.
