Subject: RE: What's Happening about Summerway?

Hello Jim,

It is correct that Exeter City Council, who are about to complete the land swop, will be reviewing the Summerway site imminently. They intend to consider the future of the club house either to turn it to community use or demolish it, I think the latter.

The ONLY way the club will get back to their site is to enter negociations with the Council, who I think will be reasonable, but as I have explained to others on your committee, you have a very small window of opportunity.

It is wishful thinking to believe that help will come from central government, because it will not.

i regret that because of the website and some of the e-maills to Councillors, the Council regard you as persona no grata. The Councillors and officials are as far as I can judge impervious or more hostile to Summerway as a result of the actions taken by the club. As you have vacated the Summerway site you are no longer tenants and therefore legally have no call on the site.

I my view, the club is in the 'last chance saloon' and MUST engage with the Council URGENTLY and must think as imaginatively as psiible.

If you wish Adrian Cable to do it then I would agree to let him try but he must be given a free hand.

I do not want an e-mail with a counter view. I am giving my advise as the Devon LTA Chairman and if the club does not respond then the opportunity will be lost for good.

Regards

John
