In the end, we find solutions to the little things that niggle us frequently in our daily lives.  Having written the address of this website on countless bits of paper, backs of envelopes, in people’s diaries, etc etc, Jim finally decided that enough was enough.  He has made himself some neat little cards.

To save time, he adapted a copy of the MS Word file used to print the Summerway membership cards.  The Club’s name and logo were retained, and the text replaced by “Volunteers Care!”, “Why has Local Government withdrawn support?” and “Visit: www.summerway.org”.  A line was used to improve the cards optically, and that’s all there was to it.

I am sure others who are eager to save the Summerway Club for future generations will find a use for this file.  There is a drawback to distributing the file in MS Word format, viz. the use of an unusual copyright typeface for the Club’s name.  To overcome this difficulty, the file has been converted to the Adobe pdf format for distribution.  Clicking on the link at the bottom of this page will cause the file to open for viewing provided that the Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed on the computer.  It may then be saved or printed as required.

This pdf prints best for me with  “Scaling: None”  and with the  “Auto-Rotate and Center”  box checked.  You may be able to achieve better results if you have the appropriate software and the skills to manipulate pdfs.

The simplest way to make use of the file is to print it out on an ordinary sheet of A4 and cut along the lines.  This will provide nine handy little slips of paper with which to encourage others to visit the website.

The website counter only records unique hits, so anyone visiting it ten times over a period from the same computer will only register as a single hit.  The site is becoming increasing popular, and hopefully the number of unique hits will rise from three figures to four by local efforts.  Please help by spreading the website’s address as widely as possible.  Summerway needs premises to function properly, and it would be sad if this need dropped out of the public’s and the Councils’ perception.

Jim made his cards by printing the file on ordinary sheets of paper in several different colours, laminating them with 160 (2 x 80) mic pouches, and then trimming inside the lines separating the nine individual cards.  Unquestionably executive quality!
