The natural assumption is that ECC would have a wider view of community than the Club, but the reverse seems to be true. Surely, ECC should be considering all the needs of the Community before deciding on the allocation of resources. Instead, it seems to have become fixated on a grandiose park to the exclusion of all other needs pertaining to the locality.

Is Exeter City Council suffering from  tunnel  vision?

The Club fully understands the necessity for a park to serve the neighbourhood, and approves without reservation.  It is also aware of the very significant waiting list it maintained which demonstrated another vital need.  Local Government had the opportunity to satisfy both needs, but ECC seems to have acquired tunnel vision.  In fixating on its plans for the park, it has lost sight of the Club and the broader picture. The Club understands its locality, having served it for more than three decades.  ECC, on the other hand, shows it lives in an ivory castle, as seen by its actions. Real consultation before consideration of the options would have avoided conflict and the loss of the Club’s services to the citizens of Exeter.  NB!
